Recommended blood tests before a Metabolic Health consultation

Blood tests are done in order to check the values of various substances found in the blood that indicate distinct disease states. The variety of tests that you may be referred to depends on your symptoms and the opinion of your attending physician. There are several blood tests that are valuable even in the absence of any experienced symptoms. This is since they can help identify the risk of disease and impaired health.




The following blood tests are recommended prior to a Metabolic Health consultation


  • Complete blood count (CBC)

  • Total Cholesterol

  • HDL type cholesterol levels

  • LDL type cholesterol levels

  • Triglyceride levels

  • Fasting blood sugar (glucose) test

  • Hemoglobin A1C (Hb A1C) test

  • Vitamin D test

  • Vitamin B12 test

  • Folic Acid Test

  • Blood iron test (Iron Fe)

  • Transferrin blood test

  • Ferritin blood test

  • C-Reactive Protein (CRP) test

  • Erythrocyte Sedimentation (ESR) Test

  • Liver function tests: ALT/AST/GGT

  • eGFR (Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate) Test

  • TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) test
